Finding information today is easy, but getting the truth is becoming increasingly hard. Facts drown in the sea of fantasies that is more and more difficult to control: studies have shown that as much as 90 percent of misinformation posted on Facebook or Twitter remain undeleted. Viral non-truth isn’t always dangerous, but we can already remember a number of instances when a false message on social media could cost someone’s life…
The immersive show-game NO FAKE* will explore the relationship between society and the individual in the reality of distorted information. The project’s creative team will analyse the phenomena of lies and manipulation that provoke destructive activity: how hard is it to destroy somebody with the help of information? How does fabricated truth cause mass aggression? Can fake news be simply ignored and how can it grow into indifference to the real facts?
The audience will be active participants in this show, receiving assignments to their mobile phones. Each viewer will receive a randomly selected predefined game scenario that will guide them via text messages. A variety of simulated lifelike emotional situations will allow viewers to experience them personally. These experiences will be a kind of injection to promote the development of critical thinking and the ability to look at emerging true-false situations from different perspectives: strong emotions often prevent us from seeing things as they really are.
